AboutUs

Situated on the A38 between Gloucester and Tewkesbury the “Queens Head” has been in private ownership since 1995.

We have built up one of the finest reputations for food and real ales in the Gloucestershire area and further afield.

We decided to concentrate on fine food from the very beginning, with a number of commercial premises in the area offering the same nationwide menu, we thought we would go one step better.

We employ 4 chefs who are passionate about what they produce.

  • On returning to this lovely pub , it's nice to know this has stayed a constant sure bet for a great meal . The portions are beyond generous, everything is very reasonably priced and everything is cooked to perfection. We had the slow roasted pork with Somerset cider jus, wow and amazing crackling! The pork was sooo tender it almost fell apart! See pics and this is only £13.95 per person One small gripe was ,even though it was a tues and the place was very busy( which speaks volumes) the staff were very busy and although they were very courteous ,we had to get up and go to the bar to get our second round of drinks . It was only about 5ft away , but easier than trying to flag down the flitting staff who were obviously doing their best! On the plus side the meals came out very promptly. Every time we have been here the food is amazing and I would highly recommend the place.

  • We arrived early in the evening, without a reservation, and within half an hour the place was packed. Service was very friendly and the food excellent and great value for money. We did overhear that the owners/managers were leaving the place so hope the new management retains the quality of food and service.

  • Visited for a late Sunday lunch. Meat was plentiful and tender, and the whole meal was delicious. The homemade puddings were to good to resist (even the icecream was especially good). Service was excellent and we were made very welcome despite being the last customers remaining. We felt under no pressure to leave and will definitely return. Even the biggest complainer in our party wanted to lick her plate clean!

  • Visited on Bank holiday Monday with friends. We have been many times but it's good to know that the food is as good as ever. I had venison and my partner had the belly pork which has always been a favourite. I would recommend both. Still one of the best places to eat and drink in Gloucestershire. .

  • Due to a mix up with timings arrived just as lunch service was finishing, despite that we were made to feel very welcome .Food was superb and we were not rushed in any way .I have eaten at the pub many times over the years and although food has always been good The welcome has on occasions been a little bit less than I would if hoped for , therefore I wasn't surprised to find there were new owners with fresh enthusiasm Well done we will be back

  • I met up with my parents here for dinner when I was away on business. It was very busy, even on a Tuesday night, so service was a bit slow but not ridiculous. They have a good selection of beers on tap. We had the Longford lamb and beef shoulder which were both very tasty. The portion size was quite large so unfortunately we didn't have space to try a dessert! Will definitely be back!
