Friendly welcoming place with fantastic food!
"We were 4 and all chose from the Christmas menu. I started with the duck which was so tasty. For my main I chose the pork belly which was the best I have ever had. To finish, I couldn’t resist the amaretto cheesecake and was not disappointed. The restaurant was full but we didn’t have to wait very long to be served by the very friendly staff. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm. I would recommend a visit."

Two visits in 3 days, it's that good!
"We visited Queen's Head back in 2014 and had intended to come back straight away. Not really sure what happened but so glad we eventually found our way back!
We visited on a Friday evening, having somehow secured a late booking for 8 o'clock. My good lady had the fish and chips. I had the Famous Longford Lamb. I love lamb. This was washed down with a decent bottle of Rioja.
The service was first class with reverence and wonderful humour. The food was absolutely first rate and I cannot ever remember having better lamb. Succulent, moist, incredibly tender and so very tasty with delicious vegetable accompaniment.
I was hungry, but after my roasted camembert starter I couldn't finish off this huge portion, and trust me I wanted to.
My good lady had the paté and affirmed that it was also excellent, along with the beer battered fish and chips with home-made tartar sauce. All sounds sincere enough.
Well, in fact, we are so sincere we booked for again today, Sunday, for lunch too!
The British Sunday lunch is often viewed as something quite basic. But to bring to together the various elements in perfect harmony is almost impossible.
The perfectly cooked meat, crispy roasted potatoes, al dente vegetables, Yorkshire pud and gravy is hugely difficult and I had struggled to find an establishment that achieves this.
But happily I have now found an establishment that can actually bring it all together in as near perfection as is achievable!
The beef was deliciously moist and tender without being too soft. It still had texture and huge amounts of flavour. The roast potatoes were delicious; crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy inside.
The vegetables were perfect with a proper seasonal offering and the Yorkshire pud was, without doubt, the very best Yorkshire pud I have had in a restaurant or pub anywhere. Deliciously light, fluffy and crispy but so flavoursome. All accompanied with an incredible home-made gravy.
And I genuinely could not believe the price, incredible value!!
We followed this feast with a Lemon Meringue Pie and a Banoffee Pie, both clearly home-made and as good as you could get anywhere, absolutely delicious.
Of course, this could be calumny written by a staff member or friend. Believe that if you wish, but we have already booked for 3pm next Sunday as they are so busy they turned around 100 covers away this lunch time and we didn't want to miss out next week.
Think I'm exaggerating, you can see me there...!

Wow, Wow, Wow!
"Well this was the best Sunday lunch we have had in a very long time! They were extremely busy and we were lucky to have booked a table.
The feather blade of beef was delicious along with the turkey. It was all cooked to perfection and plenty of it. We then had the banoffee which was great, and the ice cream, silky smooth and delicious.
Staff were run off their feet and dessert was a little while in coming, but that didn’t bother us as it let our mains go down. They were so apologetic for the delay but it didn’t spoil it one bit.
This is a definite one to go back to and recommend to others. Well done to the management and staff as this is an excellent place."

Great food, great drink and a great night out
"Arrived on Saturday night to a very busy restaurant. Shown to our table and drinks brought straight away. Service throughout the evening was fantastic, despite how busy it was.
For starters we chose the whitebait which was fresh and crisp and came beautifully presented with mayo and salad. For mains my wife chose the feather blade of beef with home made dauphinoise potatoes, all of which melted in the mouth. I had the chicken burger which was a whole breast dipped in buttermilk then loaded with cheese and bacon. It was all superb.
The owners were there ensuring all tables were happy and the atmosphere was great. We were too full for dessert but they also looked really good. The value for money was excellent and there was no scrimping on portions. Highly recommend. We will be back!
